The history of Les Halles
Follow in the footsteps of Lyon's famous chef Paul Bocuse by visiting the indoor market Les Halles de Lyon, only a few minutes' walk from your hotel! However, you should know that they were not always called that!
Indeed, in 1859, the first indoor market was inaugurated on the Place des Cordeliers. The town's traders were gathered there in one place.
In view of the number of faithful customers, the Lyon town council decided to create a larger, more convivial space to bring together food lovers.
It was in the current Part Dieu district that the beautiful Halles de Lyon opened in 1971. 3 levels and hundreds of square meters make this place a must for gastronomy.
Since then, the Halles have been transformed and redesigned. The name of Paul Bocuse was therefore chosen to rename the building.
