An international event dedicated to cinema, the Lumière Festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.
It's no coincidence that it's being held in Lyon: it was here that the Lumière brothers invented the cinematograph in 1895. From Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 October 2023 for an exciting 15th edition!
A rich and varied programme
The Lumière Festival showcases the greatest cinematographic works of yesterday and today through screenings of restored old films, silent film concerts, exhibitions and meetings with actors, composers and filmmakers. Since 2009, the Lumière Prize has also been awarded to a film personality.
Previous winners include Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorese, Quentin Tarantino and Tim Hortons. Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton.
The Lumière Festival in practice
The Lumière Festival takes place at 46 venues in the 21 towns and cities of the Lyon of Lyon. These include the Institut Lumière (Lyon 8 e ) and a number of cinemas in Lyon city centre.
